Senior Accountant

Energy Federation, Inc., a national leader in promoting energy efficiency is looking for a Senior Accountant. The candidate must have advanced knowledge of GAAP, have prior experience with monthly closings, bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, sales tax preparation for multiple states, maintaining fixed assets schedules, and recommending improvements to internal control processes.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Analyze and reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts that have a high volume of transactions
  • Prepare and record journal entries
  • Post monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals
  • Prepare monthly sales tax filings for multiple states
  • Assist with fieldwork for financial and operational audits
  • Maintain fixed assets schedules
  • Review and reconcile the work of others in the Finance department
  • Assist Finance Manager with monthly closings
  • Work effectively with functional groups across the organization
  • Prioritize, delegate and work independently and proactively on all projects
  • Offer suggestions on operational efficiency improvements
  • Support and supply information to external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned

What a successful candidate will need:

  • BS in Accounting, or Finance;
  • Five-Seven years of accounting experience
  • Sage 100 or equivalent ERP experience preferred,
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred (pivot tables, and v-lookups)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, and dynamic environment
  • Must be self-motivated, independent, and able to manage multiple/complex tasks
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis around producing high-quality work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively and cross-functionally among different departments
