EFI Donations: Every Day is EE Day

EFI Donations: Every Day is EE Day Energy Federation Incorporation EFI | Energy Federation Incorporation

October 5th, 2018 will be Energy Efficiency Day. Although it is the third annual EE Day celebrated, EFI believes it's important to make Energy Efficiency a part of our organization's priorities and bring awareness all year round. Here are a few ways we've contributed to the cause through sponsorships and donations.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp

Each year, The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp serves more than 25,000 kids with illnesses and their families. The camp's mission is to provide a different kind of healing to seriously ill children and to ensure they have a chance to experience the world of possibilities that camp has to offer.

A group of EFI Program Managers assembled a task force to replace more than 1,000 CFL and incandescent bulbs with energy efficient LED's at The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT. The LED bulbs were donated to the camp by EFI and were installed throughout 8 buildings and common areas that sit on 350+ acres in northeast Connecticut.

With replacing the less efficient bulbs, the camp can estimate an annual savings of 15,534 kWh and a $2,489 reduction in electricity cost. At the same timereducing CO2 emissions by 13,297 pounds. Over the lifetime of the bulbs, the camp estimate 140,000 kWh, $22,428 in savings, and 119,840 COemissions reduced.

Berkshire Community Action Council Sponsorship

EFI was a sponsor for The Berkshire Community Action Council this past month. BCAC has been assisting Berkshire County's most venerable populations with their heating/fuel/weatherization needs for decades, as well as, so many other anti-poverty programs. EFI has been working with them for over 20 years. EFI will always continue to support the work of others.

Center for EcoTechnology's EcoFellow

CET is one of EFI's founding organizations and through EFI's support, CET operates a Go Green Initiative for Energy Conservation and Clean Energy, that includes CET's renowned EcoFellowship program. CET's Go Green Initiative is focused on the vision that education + action = a lasting impact in our homes, lives, and communities. During a ceremony our Vice President participated in, EFI's long mutual history with CET was recognized, with strong appreciation expressed for the continued financial support that EFI has provided. The donations from EFI are through EFI's mission-related grant program, funded with a portion of EFI's net earnings set aside to support work such as that done by CET. Grant requests are considered by a subcommittee on EFI's Board of Directors. EFI's fund is formally known as the Alan Silverstein Memorial Fund, named after the late co-director of CET and long-time friend of EFI, who passed away in 2014.
